Fruits to avoid and enjoy this summer if you have Type 2 diabetes

According to diabetes experts, one should consume fruits in moderation and always consider which fruits to eat. The key is to keep track of the carbohydrates and consider the glycemic index of a fruit.

Fruit and fruit products with a high GI can raise your blood sugar levels, so even though it’s not forbidden, some should fruit be consumed in moderation.

Foods with high GI include: Watermelon, Pumpkin, Pineapple Fruit juice and dried fruit.

Consuming low GI fruits can improve the prevention of coronary heart disease in diabetics.

Fruits with low GI recommended for diabetics:

Blackberries, Oranges, Avocado, Strawberries, Apples, Nectarines, Peaches, Bananas and Blueberries. 

Several public health organisations have recently integrated the glycaemic index into their nutritional recommendations for people with metabolic diseases and the general population.
